I’m Melinda Davis (Mindy) and I am a (Florida) Licensed Mental Health
Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. I find it an honor and
privilege to be a witness to your sacred healing journey. I believe my clients are the
experts of their own lives and I serve as a collaborative guide, creating a warm,
authentic, non judgemental environment for clients to feel safe exploring and
‘trying on’ new perspectives and modalities as they trust their own intrinsic
wisdom.

I grew up in a small, picturesque town about an hour from New York City and
moved to Florida in 2006.

My experience includes over ten years incorporating mental health in ministry,
youth groups, and missions. A highlight for me was traveling to India and Nepal in
2015 with a team led by my former Master’s professor, co-leading individual and
group counseling, and workshops for psychoeducation in disaster relief following
their 2014 earthquake. Other work experience includes the Oviedo school system
where I worked with both individual students and groups for children of divorce.

My personal experience has led to a deep understanding that illness, and abuse is
sometimes hidden. I enjoy working to restore all that needs to be uncovered. My
approach is emotion-focused therapy. This means that emotions are key to identity,
and also serve as a guide for individual choice and decision making. I enjoy
working with individuals, couples, and families. My areas of interest are trauma
resolution, grief and loss, issues of self worth, anxiety and depression.

I enjoy working in an environment where mental health and faith are encouraged
together. I believe our battles are both physical and spiritual. I am Christian, but
welcome clients of all faith backgrounds.

I live with my husband and our two fluffy Pomeranians. I enjoy travel, reading,
writing, hiking, and photography.
